Triad Of Belief

When my children were 4 and 6 respectively, we as a family would watch all the Star Wars Movies as well as all the Star Trek TV and Movie Series. Both children enjoyed the spectacular action as well as the life story as it unfolded in each episode.
What came out of this was our family's "TRIAD OF BELIEF". From that time to now, ten years later, the "Triad Of Belief" has become the following:

The First Element:  When the kids would see the Action, the Machinery, the Logistics, I would ask, What Do You Say Guys? They would immediately respond: Who's going to pay for all of this?

The Second Element: We talked about being a responsible person in life, how to make sure that whatever we did would not pollute or leave scars on the environment. The understanding of this became: You need to understand what happens when you flush the toilet, where does it go, and how does it affect everybody. And most of all, you had better know where to get your clean water.

The Third Element: When Trying to understand the actions and motivations of people, the lesson became:
If you follow the money and reward trail carefully, in most cases you can determine and understand how and why people do things. Money is spendable and rewards are as positive as doing and creating good deeds with no direct money received.

By applying the "Triad Of Belief" to our daily business activities, we've all zeroed in on doing what is correct for those who we do business with. Our ticket business Sweet Tix embodies those beliefs in making sure that people who do business with us always get more than they expect.

Mountaindale - A Growing Business And Arts Community - Part One

I was brought to Mountaindale, NY on July 4th 1958. Grew up here, graduated High School locally in 1969, earned a degree in Retail Management and came back to Mountaindale, NY. I could never guess in the early 1970's that I would be involved in the re-building and recreation of an entire Hamlet with my wife. The basis of all our endeavors is to make sure that everyone that does business with us gets more than they expect.

The work that I've been involved in ranging from Wholesale Egg Distribution, to Consultation and Brokering of Telecommunication Services, to the ownership and development of most of the Hamlet of Mountaindale, NY has now led me to the embracing the newest Computer Technologies. This new technology has set the stage for the next endeavor of Consumer and Business services via the use of Social Media. Our Sweet Tix service brings people access to Tickets for topflight Entertainment virtually anywhere you can have access to on line services, allowing us to bring our Ticket Service to a World Wide audience.

"It's A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood"

"It's a Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood". The temperature has crept up into the mid 50's, with clear blue skies in Mountaindale, NY. Only a couple of snow piles are left around downtown. Coming out of a tough winter to a beautiful day makes for a good outlook on what is happening in town, the new revitalization. of our Hamlet.  The Crocuses and Daffodils are coming in, so Spring has finally Sprung. Listening to the birds singing today made me start to whistle the theme from Mr. Rogers. My feeling is that if more people listened to and followed the messages of Mr. Rogers, we all would have a happier place to live.

Spring comes with flowers, buds on the trees, a sense of everything new again, revitalization and rebirth at every step and glance...in some ways the concert industry is much the same as musicians and bands shake off the winter doldrums and begin announcing new tour dates.  So, it's an exciting  time here in Mountaindale, and a exciting time at Sweet Tix as we browse our site too see what new exciting events and concert tours are popping up, just as we watch for those first crocus of spring to pop up through the last remnants of winter's snows.

Sweet Comedy Growing Up and Today

I come from a family where comedy and goodhearted teasing of one another was a part of our daily situation. I can remember going to sleep on Sunday nights when "The Honeymooners" was just coming on, and my father kissing me goodnight and feeling his two day beard on my little boy face. Even now when I hear the theme, I go back to the early 1950's. The comedy was very real, not fresh or hurtful and dealt with the challenges of life. Growing up in the 1960's I was enamored by Bill Cosby, buying all his albums and being able to use his stories in similar life situations. I still use some of his lines or observances to deal with today's life.
The Smothers Brothers played a large part of my underlying comedic sense along with their keen understanding of society in general. When both of my children sang "Crabs Walk Sideways and Lobsters Walk Straight" in the shower during the mid 1990's, those lyrics and their lessons hold true  even today . Fast forwarding to the more recent 2000's +, names like Bill Engvall with family comedic observations and Jeff Foxworthy with his brand of poking fun at groups of people, but really liking them all, prove that mean comedy is overshadowed by Sweet Comedy today and the past.

I feel that when you peel away some of the fresher facade of Ron White and Larry The Cable Guy, similar observations of the human story are very evident. Part of who I am today is based on the snippets that I've borrowed to help me understand what is and what isn't. Part of my business mantra today is to use comedic  references and or anecdotes in establishing a rapport with my clients.  My ticket business follows that model. Please check out Sweet Tix  to see some of the people in comedy who shape today's world.

Vendor Loyalty

I've found that I like to establish Long Term relationships with the people who I do business with. In 1967, when I was building Hot Rod Chevrolet's, George from Tire Discount in Monticello, NY, gave me good deals with unmatched service. I continue to buy all my tires for my cars and trucks from George's company. I don't look at price because that is not the overriding concern. The service, the knowledge that "Everybody Knows My Name", makes me purchase tires only from Tire Discount. George once told the me the method of his business was that "I would rather have nickles rolling in the door all day, than have a dollar waft in now and then". I've taken that business model and applied it to my Ticket Business of today. I like to think that I provide the best service and access to event tickets and in that model hope to create the same long term relationships that has me buying tires from George for the past four plus decades. Please visit us at Sweet Tix and give us the opportunity to have this kind of relationship with you. If your business or organization needs large volumes of tickets, feel free to contact us via email.

We Missed A Snowstorm Today, But A Super Music Catalog Came In The Mail

We were supposed to get hit with 6-10 inches of snow here in Mountaindale, NY today. Our school, Fallsburg Central had a two hour delay, but all we got was a dusting. I thought that Spring was finally here in Sullivan County, NY. The mail man dropped off a new catalog to me called "Collectors'Choice Music". If you don't get this catalog, you should get it or see it at CC Music It has so many groups past and present along with DVD selections, there's so much stuff that I haven't seen.  I really enjoy cross referencing this catalog to our ticket site to see who is still performing today.

Music Keeps Memories Alive

When I hear certain songs, I can go back to happy experiences working on hot rod cars in the late 1960's. Listening to the Beach Boys "Shut Down" or "409" makes me get the memory-smell of 90 weight gear oil in my head. Listening to the Moody Blues puts me on my June 1972 cross country trip being at Mount Diablo in California looking toward San Francisco. Listening to Arlo Gutrie "Coming in to Los Angeles" reminds me of driving into Los Angeles in June 1972 playing that particular 8 Track tape on my Panasonic player with two Daltronix book-case speakers that I'm still using almost 39 years later.  Perhaps its music's ability to bring back these mental snap shots that saw me leap at the chance to be involved in the Concert Ticket Business. If you find my blog, say hello in the comment section and consider letting me help you with all your ticket needs by visiting Sweet Tix.

Gordon Lightfoot is as Sweet as Ever

I'm sitting here in the middle of the, hopefully, last snowstorm in the North East today.  The wind and weather made me think of "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald"  check out  the song here. It must have been terrifying to be on that ship on that fateful day. If you haven't caught Gordon Lightfoot in concert, he's doing a swing through Canada right now. For tickets visit us at Sweet Tix.

Memories of Levon Helm

Was reading a very interesting article today about Levon Helm in the "Hudson Valley Magazine".  I've been listening to Levon Helm for decades, and have many fond memories associated with him and his music. I started with Music From The Big Pink in 11th grade mechanical drawing class when John Skubon brought in the album and our teacher Mr. Longo loved it too. For a teenager that was totally cool back in 1968.  For tickets to Levon Helm concerts and other events, please visit us at Sweet Tix.
